A Slow, Fresh, Realistica Musical Romance
Hello to all my lovelies! Wow! Its already November! Time went by so fast! Anyways, a week ago, one of the currently drama finished airing, called Do You Like Brahms? This drama stars Kim Min Jae as Park Joon Young, a famous pianist prodigy and Park Eun Bin as Chae Song Ah, a 29 year old in her last year of her music degree after going to back to university.
Now for this drama, I'm not too familiar with the characters. This is the first time I have seen them, so I don't know too much about their acting. Maybe I will try looking up some of their other dramas. Anyways, from what I can tell, they carried out their roles perfectly. It was refreshing to see another type new, non typical, non clichéd romance story. I liked how they showed the female lead Chae Song Ah, works hard to get a music degree despite all the criticism she's for being 29 years old.
So this drama theme and backstory is supposed to be based on Brahms love story. Brahms was a composer and musician. As a violinist myself, I can say his music is amazing, but his love story is heartbreaking. Basically with Brahms, he loved his best friend's wife, and since it was unrequited love, he never married. He did get engaged to another woman at one point but broke it off for unknown reasons. Due to this he wrote many romantic type pieces.
I would have to say most of it does mirror the male lead, Park Joon Young, in love with his best friend's wife and does show his struggle, but the latter half of the story is different from Brahms actual love life. The character development and plot development seemed to flat for me too, I did not see any changes in the personal, self goals of the characters. Plus there were too many unnecessary characters where they were trying plot against the main characters for no apparent reason. Some of the episodes I have fast forward through because it was dragging. But the romance was sweet and realistic, not overly too clichéd and cheesy.
My rating : 2/5
