K DRAMA REVIEW: DO DO SOL SOL LA LA SOL

Fresh Love Story With Twists and Turns

So awhile ago, I finished a new K Drama that has been released on Nextflix, called Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol. What really long name for a 16 episode drama right? But there is actually a deeper meaning to the title and an interesting plot along with it related to drama. It has been my first time to see a drama title that has that sort of meaning. When you watch it, you will see why. I am a huge fan of Go Ara (who plays the main lead). I have especially loved her in Hwarang (another great drama!). Although Lee Jae Wook (also main lead), has had other small dramas, I have not seen his works. So this is the first time I will be watching him.

I have always love romantic comedies, however, I do not like the too cheesy, mushy, cliched ones though. I am more into the realistic, strong independent role leads with an actual, interesting plot. This drama has fit the criteria. I have never expected a drama, and a romantic comedy to have many unpredictable twists and surprises, and they are not even dark secrets either, but just rather unexpected of the main leads and the cast. The character development and plot development was amazing and wholesome, not just for the main leads, but the entire cast. There were no unnecessary characters or scenes, as everything was related to the plot and showcased it perfectly. The twists also were not overdone either. However, there is one part that ticked me off though, it's the last 30 minutes of the ending because it makes it like "why was that twist necessary?" Overall, Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol is a refreshing take on a romantic comedy and does not get boring one bit.

Synopsis:

Goo Ra Ra (Go Ara) is a naive rich girl, who dreams of being a great pianist with her father's love guiding her. But her path becomes rocky when her father passes away, and she finds herself going bankrupt. Being scammed of home and needing an escape, she goes on a ride where she encounters an accident trying to avoid Sun Woo Joon (Lee Jae Wook), a diligent worker trying to meet ends. Being hospitalized with a broken arm and no place to go, guilty Sun Woo Joon decides to take responsibility and take care of her. With Go Ra Ra’s naive personality, she slowly begins creeping into Sun Woo Joon's heart, while trying to deal with the challenges of living an adult life.

My Rating: 4/5

* I gave this a 4 because the last 30 minutes of the ending was just so frustrating LOL
