Recently I went to a hotpot buffet. This was a new one that opened near where I live. For most hot pot places or Korean BBQ places, I have to go to Bellaire, which is a really long drive, mostly and 1 hour, depending on traffic.
Anyways I was so excited that one finally opened near me. I even got my mom and sister to try it with me. Now Hotpot can vary from different Asian cultures as it had made its way through different countries and has been modifies to their own taste.
Go Shabu is a Japanese style hotpot, meaning they don't have the same broths as Chinese Hotpot. At this place its really nice and different, because we can order different types of broths to cook and eat with. There is the Tonkatsu, Sukiyaki ( Which i ordered), Miso, Japanese Curry Broth, Tomato and Beef, and the House Special Spicy Broth.
The Sukiyaki broth I loved because it was spicy and salty at the same time and I'm one of those who love strong flavors. Its made with soy sauce, beef bones, mushrooms and mirin.
The restaurant, in times of COVID, was very clean and sanitized. Everyone wore masks and gloves, including the staff.
The buffet for ingredients to cook was filled with variety from different type of meat, seafood, meatball, vegetables, toppings, noodles and sauces. Plus you only have to one price, for the one time fee only.
They only have one location right now. But try other hotpot places in your area, whether local or out of state!
