C Drama Review: DATING IN THE KITCHEN

A Delicious, Gorumet Food Romance

Hello to all my lovelies! Hope y'all are getting through the week. I recently finished a drama called Dating in the Kitchen. You might wonder how do I finish and watch all these dramas when I am also a MS student? Well my answer to that is by watching and catching up on them on the weekends. I try to relax Friday and Saturdays with no work and plus due the pandemic, there are not many places to hang out or socialize anymore. So, usually I just watch them then and some before I sleep to relax.

Anyways, getting back to the drama, Dating in the Kitchen. So technically the drama is done, but subbing and updating. They have updated to episode 18 so far and they do it 4 episodes Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week and is slated for 24 episodes. I watch the rest of the episodes without subs and it was pretty easy to understand the general idea with the scenes.

The drama was good with strong female lead trying to make her way as chef. Although the the gap is a bit wide between the two leads, but their chemistry is amazing! Hey if the actors can pull it off, who are we to judge? Plus the male lead (who is in his 30s or 40s) is actually really hot and handsome too! Can you blame me for admiring him?!

So I loved the first half of the drama up until episode 15, but after that it just started going downhill. There were no more shots of Gu Shengnan cooking or Lu Jin enjoying the food. The romance was still there, but it slowed down after episode 15. It had turned into this messy love triangle, with a mean mother in law and jealous second female lead . Plus they showed more of the side character's story than the main leads. Basically in short the character Nd plot development was flat. There were also some unnecessary characters introduced in the second half of the drama that had no relevance to the plot or the main leads.

My rating: 2/5

I gave this a 2 because the drama is worth it to only watch the romance, chemistry between the main leads and the food shots too.

DATING IN THE KITCHEN ( Chinese):

Gu Shen Nan ( Rosy Zhao) is an aspiring chef, however she just a mere employee at a hotel, but ends up losing her job. Through many funny incidents and misunderstandings, she meets the rich and arrogant foodie, Lu Jin ( Lin Shen). For compensation, Lu Jin asks Gu Shen Nan to cook him gourmet food whenever asks in place of her owning him money. The two starting forming a bond over delicious food. How does their relationship progress?

**my favorite part of this drama is all the food and cooking shots! I meaning who wouldn't love food scenes! 😋
