During Thanksgiving break, I wanted to watch something that was light, easy to finish because I was still swamped with work and my thesis. So on Netflix, I found this new reality show, called the Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. Sounds familiar right? Seems similar to the Housewives of Beverly Hills. Anyway, I'm not too big on reality shows, I have never seen any of the popular American ones either, such as Keeping Up with the Kardashians etc. The only ones I have watched were along with my mom when I was younger: The Bachelor and The Bachelorette (when they actually were genuine and good tbh).
I just didn't care to watch a bunch of people fight, instigate drama, or unnecessarily create any politics between the families. I just don't understand why you want to showcase your personal life on TV. But I guess they gotta make money somehow? I don't know. I never cared for watching reality shows as there was no point to them or plot. Why should I be interested in other peoples' lives who always backstab each other and act like little kids/high school teenagers just to create gossip. Plus most of the time, reality shows are not all realistic, most of the filming can be scripted or edited to make it look "realistic"
Now, getting back to the reality show I was talking about. The Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood, showcases four woman in the circle of famous clans in Bollywood:
- Seema Khan (wife of Sohail Khan (actor), who is brother of Salman Khan, so direct sister in law).
- Maheep Kapoor (wife of Sanjay Kappor (actor), who is brother of Anil Kapoor, direct sister in law)
- Neelma Kothari (actress, wife of Samir Soni (actor and director)
- Bhavana Pandey (wife of Chunky Pandey (actor)
* There are also many appearences, cameos and guest stars from otehr actors, actresses, directors etc.
Unlike Hollywood, Bollywood, does not have many scandals, mostly because the stars/celebrities do not reveal their private life or can cover it up very well. This show however, gives bollywood fans a peak into the lives of the stars. It also showcases the adolescents of those famous clans making their way into Bollywood films as rising stars. But come on, let's be honest, its all about neoptism underneath all the glimmer and glam.
For the first time, a reality show exceeded my expectations. While there were moments like, WTF?! or "WHY?" or "ugh" moments. It was fun and comical at the same time. While there was some arguments, they were not scripted or anything, because between the wives, they had natural conflicts like friends did. The rest was just nice to see how the celebrities live their daily lives and how the film indstry supposedly functions in the "inner circle" This is a good watche for a short, chill, time pass. Try it out and let me know!
